Description
The TAS174 is a puncture fixture for determining the protrusion puncture resistance of stretch wrap film to ASTM D5748. The fixture features a Teflon coated probe and a steel, nickel-plated body, and is designed for use with a universal testing machine such as the VantageNX.
Stretch wrap film is a highly stretchable flexible packaging material widely used for load containment, pallet wrapping, and transportation protection. Because stretch wrap is often applied around loads with irregular or sharp-edged surfaces, protrusion puncture resistance is a critical performance property — indicating how well the film holds up when pressed against a protruding object under load. The TAS174 is part of Thwing-Albert’s range of puncture and burst fixtures for plastic film and related materials.
